Luis Fonsi, Biography, Age

Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero is the first child of his parents Alfonso Rodríguez and Delia López-Cepero. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 15, 1978. His parents also have two other children, two daughters Jean and Tatiana.

Fonsi has always had his thoughts for music. As a child, he tried to adapt his singing so that it could sound like the popular Puerto Rican singing group Menudo. During this period of his life he was also an active member of the San Juan Children’s Choir.

For his high school education, Luis moved to Florida where he enrolled at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. He met a few friends there, including singer Joey Fatone, and together they formed a popular singing group known as the “Big Guys.”

Graduating from high school, he was admitted to Florida State University on a full scholarship to pursue studies in vocal performance. Again Luis was involved in singing groups. He has performed with the University Choir and with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Despite the scholarship race, he then dropped out of school to start his musical career. Shortly after he left school, Universal Music Latin offered him his first music contract.

Three years after his 2014 album, the veteran Latin singer has released his most successful musical effort to date. Despacito ‘s January 2017 release with Daddy Yankee broke the mold of Latin music and filming for the stars. In the first week of April 2018, the song’s music video garnered 5 billion views on YouTube, becoming the most viewed video in the world. It also reached the top spot of almost all Latin Chart Billboard. Luis Fonsi then did an English remix of the single with Justin Bieber, which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for 16 consecutive weeks.
