BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — They were known as the "Buffalo Soldiers."
More than 100 years ago, 17 black United States soldiers were executed in Texas after a wrongful conviction.
Sergeant William Nesbit of Altoona was among those hanged.
Nesbit was wrongly convicted of leading the mutiny of all black regiments against Houston police and civilians.
Now, more than a century later, a ceremony is being held to restore those soldiers’ names.
