In Cambria County, some people are not happy with the condition of some of the roads in Middle Taylor Township.
One couple says recent grant money awarded to the township was supposed to fix some of those roads, including one that leads to their wedding venue, but they say now the township is using that money to fix other roads in the same area.
Edana and David Glessner tell Channel 6 they have become frustrated with Middle Taylor Township as they say they are losing business because of the road that leads to their wedding venue.
“Our biggest complaint to get to our venue is our road,” says Edana Glessner, the co owner of Hinckston Run Farm, “It's just pothole after pothole”.
Edana Glessner and her husband David own Hinckston Run Farm in Middle Taylor Township – right off of Waterfall Drive - which the Glessner's say is in bad condition and bad for their business.
“They're, you know, distraught with driving down this road and that’s the last thing they remember as soon as they get here is this road coming in here,” says Edana Glessner, “and then, not only that, but we live here so we drive up and down this road several times a day and its wear and tear on our cars and vehicles and also with our neighbors as well”.
The Glessner's say they went to a township meeting three months ago and they were going to apply for a HUD loan for $150,000.00
They say with the HUD loan – the township was asking residents to apply for their road to be fixed.
“It's one of the worst roads up here” says Ronald Berg who is affiliated with Middle Taylor Township Zoning Board and Sewage Authority.
Ronald Berg also is a neighbor of the Glessner's and was also at the township meeting where they discussed fixing some roads.
“The township engineer had, came to them and told them there was some HUD money available for low income families on certain roads or parts of roads,” says Berg, “That is up to the township supervisors to determine which ones need to be done first”.
David Glessner tell Channel 6, “They are planning on working on three other roads in the township that they said they had their permits or whatever, the application for the road turned in before ours, but our was turned in on time”.
For the past two years, the Glessner's say they have been asking for road repairs and just a few days ago they spoke with a road supervisor about their concern.
“He did say he would work on trying to get this road fixed, its just the other roads had to come first,” says Glessner, “We've reached out to the township and the county and we aren't getting anywhere, were getting empty promises”.
WJAC has reached out to Middle Taylor Township supervisors multiple times for comment and have not heard back.
